Special Gifts
Special Gifts From
The People of
Matsue, Japan
Matsue, a Sister-City of New Orleans, has long been an enthusiastic supporter of our plans to construct a Japanese garden in New Orleans. This beautiful stonework consists of two massive stone lanterns and a wonderful stone water basin. They are part of an incredibly generous contribution from the people of Matsue. In addition our sign, with its beautiful calligraphy, was also a gift from Matsue.
We believe our garden has become a special expression of friendship between the people of New Orleans and Matsue.
Our new mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu, has taken the time even before his official swearing in, to reach out to Matsue and renew its special relationship with the people of New Orleans. To learn more about Matsue, Japan, click on the link below.
